Web-Based Training for Web Applications

Introduction

Content Management System (CMS)

A content management system is an application used to create, edit, manage and publish digital media and text. Web Services has chosen to use Ektron’s CMS400.net for your web site.

CMS400.net

CMS400.net (CMS400) is the newer, more powerful counterpart to eMPower. It allows you to edit your website from any computer with internet access.

Web Browser Support

Your web site is viewable to anyone from any web browser, including a cell phone’s internet browser. However, editing your web site is only supported on these browsers:

  • Windows PC
    • Internet Explorer (version 6 and later)
    • Mozilla Firefox (version 2 and later)
  • Macintosh
    • Mozilla Firefox (version 2 and later)

Additional Training Material

  • Video tutorials can be found at: https://webtrain.rice.edu/.
  • Inside the Workarea under the Settings tab are some Ektron supplied Help documents.
